Milford, the seat of Pike County, was incorporated as a borough in 1874 and was originally part of Milford Township. One of Milford's most influential residents was Gifford Pinchot, twice the governor of Pennsylvania and also the father of the U.S. Forest Service. His home, Grey Towers, is now a national historic landmark. Other historic buildings line the tree-lined streets of this quaint town. The Milford of today plays host to a growing variety of artistic and cultural attractions in its downtown. One more interesting tidbit: many claim that Lobster Newburg was invented in Milford, at the Hotel Fauchere. Bon appetit!
