Pittsburgh once conjured images of "hell with the lid off." Today, the city at the forks of the Ohio is a shining, modern metropolis that leads the way in bioengineering, medicine, and high technology. And this year, the city is celebrating! Pittsburgh 250 is a year-long commemoration of the naming of the city by General John Forbes in 1758 - and it's a party like you've never seen before. Champion pro sports teams, a host of cultural amenities, and the first T. Rex fossils ever discovered mean that the Steel City has something to enchant everybody.

It doesn't get any better than this!

My buddies and I are PITT football fans, and what would a PITT football game be without a tailgate party!  Our senior member AR says that if you don’t get to the Heinz Stadium parking lot 3 to 4 hours before the game, well… it’s like not getting to the game on time. As soon as we arrive, we unload, fire up the grill and start cooking the Lithuanian kielbasa, eggs, home fries and whatever else is on the menu for the day. We eat, have a few drinks, chat with our neighboring tailgaters, tell a few stories and get ready for the game. As we sit around enjoying the day (whether it be sunny, rainy or snowy), Tom who provides wisdom to the gathering always says “it doesn’t get any better than this”!  Hail to PITT!

Ahhh, a wedding on the riviers...
Submitted by: Annette
Nadine's wedding reception on the Paddle wheel boat on the rivers. Jan 1991 we had 6 ft of snow, below zero & the entrance to the boat flooded. They put in a new walk so we could get to the boat. Off went the paddle wheel steamer around the point & up the Allegheny. After a while we noticed the boat engines straining. We were stuck in an ice flow. Aunt Hilda wanted to know who was going to push her wheel chair over the ice.
