The best of both worlds
Submitted by: Julie S.
Pennsylvania is such a beautiful state. I live in a suburb of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is a wonderful city, great sports teams, terrific museums and wonderful theaters. However, when you want to get away for some peace and quiet, it is only a 2 hour drive for my family. My husband is a member of a Rod and Gun Club in Millstone Township, Elk County. The club is between Cooks Forest and the Allegheny National Forest along the Clarion River. You fall asleep at night listening to movement of the river and wake up to the chirping of birds. I saw my first Bald Eagle here...magnificent! Sitting on the porch and looking at the mountains makes me wish that I could paint. The afternoon is filled with fishing and tubing down the Clarion River. Oh how relaxing...In the evening, a big camp fire, s'mores, hot dogs, storytelling and the most beautiful star-filled sky. Between Pittsburgh and camp, we have the best of both worlds!
