The Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau is the official tourism promotion agency for the region in Southwestern Pennsylvania. An information counselor will be happy to provide detailed information on the special events, history and culture, outdoor adventure, amusements, shopping, dining and accommodations. The Ligonier center is located within walking distance of Fort Ligonier, where the key strategic battle of the French and Indian War was held in 1758; unique specialty shops; restaurants and museums. Idlewild Park, voted America's most beautiful amusement park is only two miles west of Ligonier on U.S. Route 30. Just a short drive further down U.S. Route 30 West is the site of Saint Vincent College and Gristmill. The Pittsburgh Steelers hold their annual summer training camp on the campus every July and August.
