Washington County abounds with agricultural treasures, from farm Bed and Breakfasts where you can pet the bunnies to some of the freshest ice cream ever.
PrintEmail>>>>Start your Washington County road trip by learning how they did things in the old days - the really old days! The Meadowcroft Museum of Rural Life is a 275-acre living history museum that includes the Meadowcroft Rockshelter, home to the prehistoric people of Pennsylvania and the site of the longest continuous human habitation in North America. Meadowcroft also includes a 19th century village, complete with blacksmith shop, a covered bridge, and a one-room schoolhouse.
Spend the rest of your first day engaged in more tasty pursuits - tour a candy factory or sample some Pennsylvania wine. Wind up at a country inn---you might even find one that's home to goats, bunnies, cows, chickens, and donkeys!

It doesn't get any fresher than this: ice cream from hormone-free cows living right on the premises. That's what you'll get at the Springhouse Country Market, which also sells made-from-scratch pies and smoked hams. An old-style soda fountain, chicken barbeques, and cowboy hoedowns make this destination an agricultural fantasyland.
