Destinations in this Roadtrip:

  • Soergel Orchards
Come out to enjoy our Bakery, Produce, Market, Gift Barn, Garden Center, Animals, and Play Area. Made to order sandwiches are available everyday and we have a lunch menu on weekdays. Soergel Orchards is open year round (we are closed for a two-week period in January).
  • Moraine State Park
Eleven modern cabins are available for rent year round. These electrically heated cabins sleep six people and have two bedrooms, bathroom with shower, kitchen, dining/living area and a dock on Lake Arthur. Renters must provide their own linens, towels, cookware and tableware. Play equipment for children is in a central area.
  • Hartwood Mansion and Park
  • McConnells Mill State Park
Nestled amidst striking scenery and the deep gorge of the Slippery Rock Creek, a National Natural Landmark, McConnell's Mill State Park is a great place for an adventure. You can tour the restored rolling gristmill or the covered bridge. There is also scenic hiking, whitewater boating and two rock climbing and rappelling areas.

Whitewater boating is permitted in rubber rafts, whitewater canoes and kayaks. Boaters generally start from Rose Point, outside the park boundary, to Eckert's Bridge, covering 2.5 miles with a portage around the dam at the Old Mill. There is also a boat put-in area behind the park office. An additional 3.5 miles of whitewater from Eckert's Bridge to Harris Bridge can extend the run for boaters to six miles. Rafts, canoes and kayaks are not available for rent in the park. Boaters should contact the park office for rules and regulations.

Fishing is permitted anywhere along Slippery Rock Creek with the exception of the dam structures. Trout are stocked several times throughout the season.

There are two picnic areas adjacent to the parking area at the northern end of the gorge near the Old Mill. The picnic area has over 150 shaded tables. Charcoal grills and restrooms are throughout the picnic areas. Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

The two-mile Kildoo Nature Trail provides easy access to exciting and beautiful habitats surrounding Slippery Rock Creek. Slippery Rock Gorge Trail is the longest trail in the park and extends from Hell's Hollow to Eckert Bridge. This is a long, and in places, difficult trail.

Two climbing and rappelling areas are available to properly equipped and experienced climbers. The Rim Road Climbing Area is across the creek from the Old Mill. The more advanced and rugged area is in the vicinity of Breakneck Bridge. Rappelling is not permitted from the bridges and rock areas along park roads.
