Route: 5 and Alternate Route 5, the Bayfront Parkway and Peninsula Drive, Erie County
Escape to Pennsylvania's very own seashore. The Seaway Trail offers excellent views of Lake Erie and Presque Isle State Park, a 3,200-acre peninsula that's a haven to swimmers, hikers, bikers, and rollerbladers. Boat, fish, or take a plunge along seven miles of unfettered surf beaches. The glorious sunsets alone are worth the trip.
Hang out at Downtown Erie's Renaissance Bayfront District, home to the Erie Maritime Museum, the Presque Isle Lighthouse, built in 1872, and the 1867 Land Lighthouse [http://www.visitpa.com]. Restaurants, festivals, historic districts, and amusement parks make the Erie coastline a divine playground. And its winding roads through the quaint towns of Pennsylvania's wine country make it a trip you’ll never forget.
Take a guided winery tour. Learn about the fine art of winemaking and the delicate decisions of the wine master as he blends modern science with his ancient art at Mazza Vineyards, nestled along the shores of Lake Erie Wine Country.
Before leaving, check out the interactive Tom Ridge Environmental Center to feel, see, and hear the wonders of the natural world. At the Erie Maritime Museum, stop in the U.S. Brig Niagara, a Sailing School Vessel where you’ll learn about the War of 1812 and the Battle of Lake Erie.

Kayaking Western PA
Submitted By: Jeff & Kym Christy
Last year, at the age of 52, my wife and I, and friends started kayaking the streams, rivers and lakes of Western PA. We came across this old dam on Henry Run while kayaking the Clarion River this past Memorial Day weekend. There are numerous remote, scenic areas that can only be explored from the water, not to mention the relaxation experienced floating down a lazy stream. PA has stunning beauty if we just stop and look around.
Best Memorial Day ever

The weekend prior we did Jim Thorpe, PA, the coolest little town in the state. For Memorial Day we went to where it all began: Philly! The Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, our beloved Phillies and, of course, a "Whiz Wit" at Pat's. The next day was the amazing Art Museum, and, oh yeah, shocking my girlfriend at LOVE Park!
National Road

When we head East for vacation, we always take this old road. The scenery is beautiful, and we like seeing the old highway markers. It's a lot less stressful than the big highways.
