Throw your bags in the car and hit the open road—we've compiled roadtrips to inspire your travels and help you get started. You can follow the roadtrips as-is, pick and choose from our itineraries, do them forward or backward—it's up to you! You can't take a wrong turn in the State of Independence.
Start your roadtrip right by checking out one of Pennsylvania's 15 Welcome Centers—these facilities offer brochures, maps, advice, and free reservation services, and they're also great places to picnic and exercise your pets. And if you need a rest (or directions!) in the middle your trip, a Welcome Center is the perfect place to take a break. You might also want to take a look at our 300-mile and 500-mile roadtrips. And for those of you who prefer to avoid the beaten path, check out our new Shunpiker's Guide. It's a little something new for the roadtripper who craves a different kind of adventure. Yet another way to explore our great Commonwealth is the Pennsylvania Byways.
Don't forget to take along your favorite traveling tunes. To get in the mood to get rolling, listen to the Ready > Set > Go song, "I Go Happy" (.mp3). You can save this soundtrack of the Pennsylvania roadtrip, written by PA artist Brian Seymour, by right-clicking on the file link and selecting "Save Target As..." And you can wear your heart on your bumper, too—order a specialized license plate that shows the world what you're passionate about!
Ready to roll? Pick a trip and get moving! But before you go, check out our gas-saving (and sanity-saving!) Roadtrip Etiquette page, and if you need proof of how cool a Pennsylvania roadtrip can be, take a look at the adventures of our visitPA Roadtrippers. These intrepid travelers experienced the State of Independence during the summer of 2005, and they blogged it so the world could share in the fun.
