Get your adrenaline rush on one of Pennsylvania’s 9,300 amusement park rides. That’s right: 9,300. Pennsylvania has more amusement park rides than any other state. From dips and drops to soak zones and slides, each park promises an exciting experience for visitors of all ages. 

The Alleghenies

Ride the Dizzy Dragons and Wacky Worm with the little ones at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park, a summertime staple since 1946. The Tipton park includes more than 30 rides, a water park, go-karts, a miniature golf course and – of course – food, like the late Mafalda “Murf” DelGrosso’s famous potato salad or homemade pizza made with the park’s own pizza sauce.

Lakemont Park, the eighth oldest amusement park in the United States, is home to Leap-the-Dips, the world’s oldest operating wooden roller coaster. The amusement park features more than 30 rides and attractions for the entire family, including the Island Waterpark, two”¨rollercoasters, a Go-Kart track, Kiddieland and an 18-hole”¨miniature golf course.

Dutch Country Roads

With more than 30 fun-filled rides, Duke’s Lagoon water play area and live entertainment, Dutch Wonderland has consistently been recognized as a premier family amusement park. The park is designed for families with young children in mind and offers a host of fun things to see and do. Don’t miss the newly opened Exploration Island, offering guests of all ages an encounter with lifelike dinosaurs in their natural habitat.

At Hersheypark, you can take an exhilarating ride on one of 12 roller coasters, relax at The Boardwalk at Hersheypark with nine unique water attractions, explore ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, enjoy daily live entertainment, indulge in delicious food, play exciting games and browse unique retail shops. The park is also open for seasonal events during spring, Halloween and Christmas.

Laurel Highlands

With bragging rights to numerous awards (Best Children’s Park, Best Park for Families, One of America’s Most Beautiful Theme Parks), Ligonier’s Idlewild is a real crowd-pleaser. Idlewild offers more than 51 unusual rides and attractions including Raccoon Lagoon, Story Book Forest and SoakZone water park.

Lehigh Valley

Find everything from wave pools and water slides to classic carousels and full-tilt thrill rides with a single ticket to Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom. The park features the Talon, one of the longest and fastest roller coasters in the Northeast and more than three dozen water play areas and slides. Non-stop activities include shows, midway games, arcades, shops and eateries.

Pennsylvania's Great Lakes Region

Since the 1800s, Pennsylvanians have gotten their kicks at a waterside spot in Erie, which began as a popular picnic site. Today, this stretch of Lake Erie is home to Waldameer, an amusement park with more than 75 attractions, a Kiddieland and Water World, an entire park devoted to wet ‘n’ wild water fun. Visitors can enjoy free parking and free admission to the amusement park.

Guests of all ages can enjoy the pleasures of Splash Lagoon, where summer never ends. Riders will enjoy indoor attractions that include four twisting and turning body slides, a swirling body coaster with speeds over 40 MPH, a tube coaster, an 80,000-gallon activity pool with water basketball hoops, and three whirlpools, separate for kids and adults.

Pittsburgh & Its Countryside

A new dimension of thrill crawled into Kennywood Park: The Black Widow, which swings in a pendulum notion and offers riders the feeling of weightlessness. First opened in 1898, the Pittsburgh park cuts straight to the pure joy of summer: state-of-the-art thrill rides, old-school wooden roller coasters, treats and eats, and a kickin’ Kiddieland, to boot.

Susquehanna River Valley

Savor family-friendly, old-fashioned fun among the wooden coasters, thrill rides and quaint amusements at Knoebels Amusement Resort. This 56-ride park in Elysburg opened in 1926 with a Crystal Pool and steam-powered carousel. As it has grown, Knoebels has kept its nostalgic charm with the Grand Carousel, kid rides and covered bridges.

Philadelphia & The Countryside

Sesame Place®, the nation’s only theme park based entirely on the award-winning “Sesame Street” show, provides an interactive experience with all of your favorite characters. Children can enjoy dozens of activities, including water attractions such as Sky Splash, live stage shows such as “Elmo the Musical” and the Vapor Trail roller coaster.
