Route 6: Pennsylvania Route 6 Artisan Trail

Discover the talent and artistry of the people of Northern Pennsylvania along one of the nation's first transcontinental highways: US Route 6. Pack the car, fill up the gas tank, and get ready to explore the art - fine, folk, and everything in between along this scenic highway that stretches from the New York to Ohio border.

Along the length of the route, stay at unique bed and breakfast establishments, enjoy tasty eateries and discover the arts while you explore breathtaking vistas, rich forests, and rolling farmland. On the eastern part of the artisan trail, explore local artisans of the Upstate PA region at the Hanson Gallery and Decorium in Honesdale, the AFA Gallery in Scranton, the Blue Heron Gallery in Wyalusing or the North Country Artisan Center and Store in Towanda.

In the center of Pennsylvania along Route 6, discover the Pennsylvania Wilds region in places like Stained Glass Reflections in Wellsboro, Firestone Forge in Galeton, and Artworks at the Depot in Kane. Here artwork often depicts the beautiful mountains, streams and wildlife. Rich materials either native or historically from his area are used to create masterpieces.

On the western side of PA Route 6, explore Pennsylvania's Great Lakes region at the Main Street Art Center in Union City, Jack Paluh Arts in Waterford, and the outdoor murals created by Allegheny College in Meadville. As you drive along PA Route 6 through these historic towns, you'll see how local artisans are inspired by their surroundings and regional materials to create original works that include gourd art, chainsaw carvings, murals, and iron forgings.
