There's just nothing like having the river at your doorstep! This is the best section of the Delaware to canoe/kayak and it is a fisherman's paradise too. The Lackawaxen River is heavily stocked with trout and has many fishing holes. The Upper Delaware has a thriving fish population--bass, trout, walleye, shad in May--and a public boat launch a short walk from Roebling Inn (boat trailer parking available). Drift boat guides are available for hire nearby. The Delaware River is the border between NY and PA and is reciprocal in regard to fishing licenses (available online). Canoe/kayak rentals and four bait and tackle stops are closeby too. If travelling with a non-fishing spouse, the front porch or the chairs at the water's edge are wonderful places from which to watch the river activity or settle in with a book.
