The Greenway Sojourn, June 23-30, 2007 travels through PA and MD on the longest, scenic off-road bike trail system in the East. Join 500 bicyclists on an 8-day, 335-mile ride from Washington, D.C. to Pittsburgh. See the historic C&O Canal Towpath with its many surviving locks and lockhouses and the Great Allegheny Passage, a gently-graded, mostly wilderness trail with friendly rural towns, spectacular mountain vistas, views of the rushing Youghiogheny River and the dramatic engineering of bridges, tunnels and viaducts. Camping; van-supported; catered meals; heritage activities; families welcome. This is your chance to pedal over the Eastern Continental Divide without doing a killer climb. Organized by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy with the Allegheny Trail Alliance. PA Rail-Trails Guidebook also available.
