Founded in 1985, the Maytown Historical Society operates a small museum in a 1760's log house near the town square that features changing exhibits on town history and a gift shop that sells various Maytown Souvenirs and Byers Choice figurines.
The Society sponsors various events throughout the year that serve both to highlight town history and serve as fundraisers for the society's benefit. Monthly meetings consider the operations of the society and offer educational programming on a wide variety of subjects. All meetings are open to the public as well as due paying members. The meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the parlor of St. John's Lutheran Church at 11 North Queen Street, Maytown Pa 17550.
