Route: 419, Lebanon County
Sprinkled along this byway are quaint little towns that take you back to the early 1800s and its German settlers, with vintage buildings, tree-lined streets and down-home personality. Lebanon itself is worth an afternoon, with its farmers’ markets, outlets and specialty shops. And oh yeah, it’s the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Keep an eye out for horse drawn buggies and shoofly pies.
You’ll also pass through the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail and the historic Cornwall Red Brick School House, and within a few short miles of the Middlecreek Wildlife Preserve. Explore and learn about Pennsylvania’s most unique attraction, the Cornwall Iron Furnace - America’s only 19th century charcoal-fueled blast iron furnace to survive fully intact.
