The Slippery Rock Creek Gorge, created when glacial lakes drained thousands of years ago, is at the center of this park. There are many other historical sites at the park: an old gristmill and a covered bridge, both built in the 1800s, to name two. The gorge attracts many visitors to sightsee the natural features of the park, which include several scenic overlooks and waterfalls.
