Women Making Marks
With artistic backgrounds and the world around us for a muse, we are connected by names that start with “M”, Motherhood, Springfield Township and a love for “Making Marks”. Mark making describes the different lines, dots, marks, patterns, and textures we create in an artwork. It can be loose and gestural or controlled and neat. It can apply to any material used on any surface: paint on canvas, ink or pencil on paper, a scratched mark on plaster, a digital paint tool on a screen, a tattooed mark on skin…even a sound can be a form of mark making.

Museum for Art in Wood presents Poetry Gumball Machine Project Celebration
Museum for Art in Wood hosts an unveiling celebration for its new Poetry Gumball Machine, which will be commemorated with music and spoken word by local talent with light refreshments provided by Philly’s own Harper’s Garden. The Poetry Gumball Machine Project is the brainchild of acclaimed poet and multiform artist LindoYes and is a community-wide program in locations throughout Philadelphia and New Jersey. The project supports free access to the arts and poetry in a fun and familiar experience using traditional gumball machines.

Celebrate the special art exhibition "Ayana Ross: Whence You Came" with Museum staff and artist, Ayana Ross, herself. The reception will include a tour of the gallery by Ayana Ross, light refreshments, and great conversation! Cost is $10 for Museum Members and $20 for nonmembers.
