Hey, thirsty travelers. Come visit Pennsylvino — where our grapes are happy, our tasting rooms are cozy and our wineries are never more than an hour away.
As the fifth-largest grape producer and seventh in wine production and number of wineries, Pennsylvania delivers on variety and volume. We produce more than 1.6 million gallons of wine each year, and are home to more than 200 wineries — many of them smaller, family-owned establishments — and 14 diverse, self-guided trails. No matter where you are in Pennsylvania, you’re less than an hour’s drive from at least one winery.
But we’re not just prolific when it comes to making wine. We also happen to be really good at it.
Our moderate climate and rolling terrain offer 14,000 acres of some of the best growing conditions on the East Coast, something William Penn took advantage of when he planted PA’s first vineyard in Philadelphia in 1683. Most of the credit, however, goes to Pennsylvania’s talented winemakers, from multi-generational businesses to young entrepreneurs — all tapping into the benefits and rising trend of local, sustainable wine.
So stick around and explore William Penn’s winemaking legacy. We may be unorthodox, but you’ll find our grapes are anything but sour!
Please designate a driver and enjoy Pennsylvania wine responsibly.
