Eclipsing Stars is a seven-room multimedia and immersive installation that explores how different perspectives shape our understanding of natural phenomena. With a mutual interest in storytelling and world-building Alex “lonesav” Staley and Dr. Moiya McTier have constructed a series of seven different mythologies based on seven star-inspired goddesses to lead audiences through a large-scale, multi-chamber, audio-video adventure. The experience has been designed to inspire awe and curiosity, while providing the opportunity for visitors to acquire a layered understanding of eclipses. Eclipsing Stars has been made possible by the Simons Foundation and is part of its 'In the Path of Totality' initiative. FEED and Erie Arts & Culture have teamed up to participate in the In the Path of Totality, which has been developed to ensure that the millions of people in the path of totality of the April 8, 2024 solar eclipse have an unforgettable experience. The Simons Foundation’s gift to Erie Arts & Culture allowed artist, Alex “lonesav” Staley, and astrophysicist and folklorist, Dr. Moiya McTier, to collaborate with FEED on the development of this new immersive experience called “Eclipsing Stars,” which aims to elicit wonder and new understanding about the April 8 eclipse.
