Sawhill Covered Bridge

Route 221, Taylorstown, PA 15365 GET DIRECTIONS
The Sawhill Bridge, built in 1915, was one of two covered bridges during WWI due to the shortage of steel. The Queenpost truss bridge is 12'6" wide and 57" long and is located on Route 221 over Buffalo Creek. The vertical plank siding is red inside and out. The deck hascrosswise plankinf and a tin covered gable roof. Th bridge sits on one concrete abutment and one mad of stone-and mortar. The bridge had to be reconstructed in 2004 from its foundation up due to the heavy damage from Hurricane Ivan.
