Part of the Johnstown Discovery Network, the Heritage Discovery Center features several attractions, including the interactive exhibit "America: Through Immigrant Eyes," which lets you experience the lives of turn-of-the-century immigrants as they built the American Dream. It's a national story told in a local context!  New in 2009 on the 3rd floor is the Johnstown Children's Museum, a hands-on, interactive children's museum themed on the region. A rooftop garden of native Pennsylvania plants is part of the experience, along with a water room, Inclimber (a climbing structure based on Johnstown's Inclined Plane and coal mining history). Also new is the Iron & Steel Gallery, a spectacular three-story gallery featuring the "Mystery of Steel" multimedia presentation, a 25-minute, three-screen film that explains the history of steel production with a special focus on Johnstown's role as a technological innovator in the late 1880s.. The Galliker's Cafe offers pizza and light snacks.
