To say that Gunpowder Falls Brewing is a purist when it comes to craft beer is, perhaps, an understatement. Focusing solely on classic, German-style lagers, the company’s brewmaster learned the fine art of beer-making in Germany and strictly adheres to the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) of 1516 (not a typo!) in brewing his outstanding beers. There are only six types of beer on the menu: pilsner, dunkel, schwarzbier, helles, Export Hell, and Märzen, which are all crafted using traditional German brewing methods and from the same four ingredients—water, malt, hops, and yeast. Visit the brewery Fridays through Sundays to enjoy some of the best lagers you’re likely to taste anywhere, with the selections available tailored to the traditional seasons of the year.
